Which Massage Length Is Right for You?
One of the most common questions when booking a massage is: How much time should I set aside for myself?
At Cove Bodywork, sessions are available in 60, 75, 90, 105, and 120 minutes. Each one offers something a little different, and the right choice really depends on your personal goals for the session.
Is there one area that has been bothering you lately? Is there a chronic issue that has been disrupting your life for months or even years? Is it important for you to receive a full body massage? Does it take you a while to settle in and quiet your mind?
Here is how each session length tends to shine at Cove Bodywork.
60 Minutes: The Quick Reset 🌿
A full hour is a great option when you have one specific area that needs attention.
Maybe your neck and shoulders are tight after a long week, or you have been struggling with a recurring headache. This amount of time allows us to settle into that specific area and give it the attention it needs.
It can also be a wonderful choice for a shorter, relaxing pass over the whole body when you want full body work without extensive focus on any particular area.
An hour might be perfect if you:
• Have one main area you would like addressed
• Want focused, therapeutic attention
• Want a shorter, relaxing full body massage
• Want meaningful therapeutic work without a longer time commitment
75 Minutes: Just a Little Extra Time ✨
Clients are always surprised by what a huge difference an extra 15 minutes can make!
A 75 minute session gives us a little more breathing room without committing to a full 90 minutes. That extra time can allow us to spend more attention on an area that needs it while still having time to work elsewhere.
Those additional minutes can also make the session feel more relaxed and unhurried, giving us more flexibility to shape the massage around you.
75 minutes might be just right if you:
• Want more focused work than an hour allows
• Need extra time for an area that is asking for attention
• Want more time to relax and unwind
• Like having a little extra breathing room in your session
90 Minutes: The Fan Favorite 💛
90 minutes is the most commonly booked session at Cove Bodywork, and for good reason.
There are typically two ways we use this amount of time.
The first is as an in depth focused session, ideal for a chronic, persistent, or particularly stubborn area or condition that needs more time and attention. At Cove, it is not unusual for me to see clients for 90 minutes while we focus almost entirely on one chronic issue.
The second is as a full body massage with additional attention to one particular area. We can move through the entire body while still having plenty of time to focus where you need it most.
The additional time also gives us more flexibility to adjust the session as we go, rather than feeling rushed to fit everything in.
90 minutes might be perfect if you:
• Have a chronic or persistent area or condition you would like to address
• Want a thorough full body massage
• Want full body care plus extra attention in one specific area
• Prefer a slower, more intentional pace
For many clients, 90 minutes offers a wonderful balance between therapeutic work and relaxation.
105 Minutes: A Little More Room to Breathe 🌸
Think of this as a little more spacious than 90 minutes.
Those extra 15 minutes give us additional room to slow down, spend more time where it is needed, or simply let the session unfold without feeling rushed.
It is a great option when you want the benefits of a longer session but do not necessarily need the full two hours.
120 Minutes: The Ultimate Unwind 🌙
With two full hours, the sky really is the limit.
There is enough time to approach your massage in whatever way makes the most sense for you that day. There is no need to rush between areas or choose between addressing a problem area and giving the rest of your body attention. There is time for both.
Typically, a two hour appointment is a full body session.
But the biggest benefit of two hours is not simply having more time for bodywork. It is having the space to truly quiet your mind and settle in deeply.
Sometimes it takes a little while to let go of everything swirling around in your head. Two hours gives you the opportunity to slow down, stop watching the clock, and simply be present for the experience.
Two hours might be your ideal session if you:
• Want a thorough full body experience
• Have several areas you would like addressed
• Want plenty of time for focused, careful work
• Love a slow, unhurried pace
• Want extra time to quiet your mind and deeply relax
• Simply enjoy a longer massage
So... Which One Should You Pick? 🌿
There is no single right answer for everyone. It really comes down to what you want from your time on the table.
60 minutes: Perfect for one focus area, or a quicker, relaxing full body pass.
75 minutes: A little extra time for focus and relaxation, with more room to work without feeling rushed.
90 minutes: The most commonly booked option. Wonderful for in depth focused work or a full body massage with additional attention to one area.
105 minutes: A little more spacious than 90 minutes, giving us extra time to slow down and let the session unfold.
120 minutes: The most spacious option. Typically a full body session with plenty of time to work, relax, quiet the mind, and truly settle in.
At the end of the day, the best massage length is simply the one that gives us enough time to do what you are hoping for.
Massage is about rest, and there is no need to stress over choosing the perfect session length. Any massage is a great place to start. Choose the option you are naturally drawn to, and after working together, if I feel that a different length might better support your goals, I will let you know and we can adjust going forward.
